Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how PauseTime ("PauseTime", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects your information when you use the PauseTime mobile app and related services (the "Service").
Summary
- Your health and habit records are used only to run the features you choose. We never sell them and never use them for advertising.
- You can use PauseTime without an account. Your records stay on your device until you sign in to back them up.
- You can export your data or delete your account at any time in the app.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details: your email address or phone number (used to send sign-in codes), or the identifier returned by Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In.
- Profile details you choose to add: nickname, avatar, gender, birthday, height and weight.
- Health and habit records you enter: meditation, sleep, breathing, water intake, walking, and menstrual cycle records including symptoms and notes.
- Feedback and messages you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Device information: device model, operating system and app version, language, time zone, and an app-generated device identifier used to manage your signed-in devices.
- Usage events: basic in-app interactions, such as which features are opened, used to understand and improve the Service.
- Network information: IP address, used for security and abuse prevention.
Purchase information
If you subscribe to Premium, Apple or Google processes the payment. We receive only the subscription status and transaction identifiers needed to unlock Premium. We never receive your card details.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos or data from other apps. We do not use advertising identifiers and do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
How we use information
- To provide the Service and to sync and back up your records across your devices.
- To deliver reminders you turn on. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device.
- To verify sign-ins, protect accounts and prevent fraud or abuse.
- To process and restore subscriptions.
- To respond to your requests and feedback.
- To improve the Service using aggregated or de-identified usage statistics.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Health data
Health and cycle records are sensitive. We process them only to provide the features you use and, where the law requires it (for example under the GDPR), on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give when you accept this policy and enter such records. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting the records or your account. We do not use health data for advertising, profiling or automated decision-making, and we never sell it or share it with data brokers.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
We process personal data to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), on the basis of your consent (health data and optional features), for our legitimate interests (security and product improvement), and to comply with legal obligations.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose information only to:
- Service providers that host our servers or deliver verification emails and text messages on our behalf, under contracts that restrict how they may use the data.
- Apple and Google, when you use their sign-in or payment services.
- Public authorities, when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
- A successor organization in the event of a merger or acquisition, which must continue to protect your information under this policy.
International transfers
Our servers may be located outside your country. When personal data is transferred internationally, we apply the safeguards required by applicable law.
Data retention
- Account details and health records are kept while your account is active.
- When you delete your account, it enters a 7-day cooling-off period. After that, your account, health and habit records, feedback, usage events, custom breathing plans, sign-in details and devices are permanently deleted. Signing in again during the cooling-off period cancels the deletion.
- Purchase records (order numbers and store transaction identifiers) are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require. They are used only for that purpose and to prevent a purchase from being credited twice.
- Guest records that were never backed up stay only on your device.
- Security logs and usage events are kept for no longer than 12 months.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. You can:
- Export your data in the app: Profile → Account & security → Export my data.
- Delete your account in the app: Profile → Account & security → Delete account. If you can no longer open the app, follow the steps on our account deletion page (/delete-account on our website).
- Contact us for any other request. We will respond within the time required by law.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use sensitive personal information for any purpose other than providing the Service. You will not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
PauseTime is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app before it takes effect.
